Admission Procedure

Admission is granted by National Council, New Delhi to those students who qualify Joint Entrance Examination(JEE) and the seats are offered on merit-cum-choice through open counseling. The advertisement of JEE is published in the leading newspapers of India in January every year.


The candidate should have passed 10+2 stage or equivalent examination in any academic stream.


The maximum age of the candidate is 22 years,relaxable up to 25 years for candidates belonging to SC & ST category to the order of 15% & 71/2 repectively.3% seats are reserved for those who are physically handicapped.

A Brief Profile

Beant College of Engineering & Technology, Gurdaspur was established by the Govt. of Punjab as an autonomous Institution through registered society. The foundation stone was laid on February 28,1994 and the college was inaugurated on August 20,1995 by then the Chief Minister Late Sardar Beant Singh Ji. The college campus including the instructional buildings, amenties, residential and other facilities is spread over 70 acres of Land. The college is imparting instructions in the Engineering disciplines of Bio Technology, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering at under graduate level and Thermal Engineering, Production Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering at Post graduate level. The college has made tremendous progress as under:-

In the year 1995 only 3 B.Tech. disciplines i.e. Computer Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering & Production Engineering were started with a total intake of 120 students. Then in the year 1996, seats were increased and one more discipline of Chemical Engineering were added. Then in the year 1997, one more discipline of Electronics & Communications Engineering was added. Then in the year 2001, one more discipline of Information Technology was added and the total intake became 300. then in the year 2003, Two M.Tech course namely Production Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering and in the year 2009 Computer Sc. & Engineering and in the year 2011 Chemical Engineering under Regional centre of P.T.U. Jalandhar were started. Then in the year 2006, seats were increased and new course of Bio Technology was added and total intake was increased to 370. Then in the year 2007, one M.Tech in Thermal Engineering was added sanctioned by AICTE directly to the college. In 2008, seats of Computer Science and Engg. were increased to 90 & in the year 2010 to 120, the seats of Chemical Engg. were decreased to 30. In the year of 2010 seats of Electronics & Comm. Engg. were increased to 120. The College is situated on Gurdaspur-Pathankot G.T. Road in village Bariar, 4 kilometers away from the City Bus-stand and 3 kilometers away from the City Railway Station . Campus is spread over more than 69.46 Acres. The College has adequate and well qualified faculty staff and; more is in the process of recruitment . The Laboratories, Computer Center and Workshops are equipped with best quality equipment . Till to-date, more than Rs. 28 crores has been spent on laying the infrastructure. Adequate number of books and journals have been provided in the College Library.

Unemployment Allowance

Employment office provides unemployment allowance to educated unemployed person after three years of continuous registration with employment office whose family income not exceeding Rs 1000/- per month. The allowance is paid Rs 150/- PM for matric & above but less than graduates and Rs 200/- PM for graduated and above. Unemployed Physical Handicapped applicants are given this allowance after one year of registration where as deaf & dump and blind applicants are given unemployment allowance immediately after registration. Allowance give Rs 300 for graduate & above and Rs 225 for matric to Physical Handicapped and Rs 600 for graduated blind and deaf & Dumb and Rs 450 to Matric pass.

Vocational Guidance Branch

This branch provides valuable information about employment self-employment and on different new careers professions to the unemployed applicants. Vocational guidance officer provide guidance to the applicant at the time of Registration both individual as well as group guidance. The officer visit about two school in a month and provide career talks. He holds two self employment camp and two career conference every year. Every year a world Handicapped Day is observed to made aware of the Aids being provided by Centre & Punjab Govt to the Physical Challenged person. Every year a mass counseling program is carry out in every block of the district in the month of October and November to provide career counseling to the 10+2 student in the rural area.

Employment Market Information (EMI) Section

There are two EMI units namely District employment exchange at Gurdaspur at Employment Exchange at Batala. The Main function of these units is to Compliance the different sections of the employment exchanges compulsory notifications of vacancies Act-1959 and rules made under it. This act is applicable to all employers of Public Sector and Private Sector where employees strength is 25 or more excluding part time workers. Under section 4(i) and 4 (ii) it is mandatory for all employers to notify the vacancies to the concerned employment exchange before filling up. Under section 5(i) and 5(ii) the employer in every establishment in Public or Private Sector shall furnish returns ER-I quarterly & return E-II biannually to the concerned area employement office and section 6 is empowered to check the employers record. Section 7 of the Act is empowered to prosecute the defaulter employers.
